Sisters Bonnie and Bliss Adams are taking their love of marble to a new level.
The company has created its marble decor brand, Marble Basics. Everyday objects are transformed into marbled showpieces.
It is a material that will last a lifetime. “Our inspiration and drive are to create simple objects that can easily be used and appreciated daily.”
Tell us about your teamwork. Do you have two sisters? Does one design while the other runs the business, or do you work together?
Bliss says, “At this time, we are both involved in every aspect of the business, including the design process and the day-to-day.”
Bonnie and I are both creative. Bonnie is a jewelry designer, and I am an Interior Decorator. Bonnie has a degree in Visual Arts.
How did you find the experience of starting a business?
Bliss laughs: “There were challenging times, mainly as we both worked full-time while setting up Marble Basics!
It was always our intention that it would grow into a small company. We have implemented great systems and practices to help us manage our business in a mobile way.
What are some of your most outstanding achievements?
Our most significant achievements are seeing our products in stunning retail spaces and beautiful publications.
These publications include Real Living magazine, Vogue Living magazine, and Belle magazine, to name just a few.
“Seeing our designs come alive is also a pleasing moment.”
What are your plans for the future? Do you have any new products, collaborations, or ideas in mind?
“We have just launched our Elemental Collection in time for Christmas. The collection includes products like ‘The Basic Step,’ which can be used for bookends, paperweights, or doorstops. It also features well-loved trivets, bowls, and trays.
Stay tuned for more multi-purpose sculptures.
What are your goals for Marble Basics?
We would love as many retailers as possible to stock our products. It’s so exciting to see our designs on display!
Our brand began with two products: the Big Basic pot and the Baby Basic pot. Now we have more than 20 products. We are thrilled and will continue to find new ways to use the material to delight and surprise our customers.
What are your five most important sources of inspiration?
“1. Architectural Digest
2. Renegade Collective
3. Joseph Dirand’s work
4. Postmodern furniture
5. The Design Files
Bonnie and Bliss have created classic yet modern and clever designs combining functionality and beauty in all their pieces.
We may have the answer to your search for the perfect gift to give someone with everything.
The pots are protected from the elements by being polished.
