The Messengers - Hi Res

Live Music Mondays
09/04/2012

Those of you with some better memories than us may remember at little bar called St Jerome’s in Caledonian Lane, where despite the lack of space and the occasional ripe smell coming from the bins, a music fan named Jerome was determined to bring some rock n’ roll to Melbourne’s laneways. These Sunday sessions, along with the odd one off event, booked some pretty good acts in retrospect; with the likes of Lily Allen, The Presets, Architecture in Helsinki, The Avalanches, Wolf & Cub, Gersey, Clare Bowditch and Dan Kelly all gracing the handkerchief sized stage at some point.

While as you know this little hotbed of musical madness helped give rise to the St Jerome’s Laneway Festival in Summer; being able to kick back indoors and see a couple of indie bands while having a few cold ones is just the ticket in Melbourne’s CBD in Autumn. Hence, 1000 Pound Bend, the spiritual heir to St Jerome’s on Little Lonsdale St in the city, is putting on a series of Monday evening shows in April. They’re free entry and finish up at a decent hour on a school night, so kick back with a cold one and let the good times roll.
