Oneiros - Exhbition by Lily Chalmers
10/10/2012 - 16/10/2012
OPENING NIGHT THURSDAY 11 OCTOBER 6pm – 9pm
Oneiros is an artistic exploration into dreaming and the unconscious by Lily Chalmers for a year 12 Independent Research Project.
The word Oneiros comes from the ancient Greek word ‘dream’. The Oneiroi were spirits sent by Morpheus, bringing Oneiros (dreams) to the people.
This exhibition is illustrating the common dreams and symbolism that can occur during sleep. This is a venture into spatial art with different effects and atmospheres created with light, so that it is like walking into a waking dream. Photography, acrylic paint on plywood, canvas, and paper, are just some of the materials and mediums used to represent the mystery and wonders of dreaming.
In conjunction with the exhibition, Jack Eden will launch his new album.
‘Psilophyte’ is an album produced by a local producer Jack Eden, for a year 12 independent research project. This album encompasses the themes of transience, impermanence and imperfection.
The album evolves from downtempo/jazz expressions to psychedelic dub grooves.
‘Psilophyte’ comes from the latin, desribing a primitive silurian plant which lacked true roots.
This is the first ‘Psilophyte’ album, and it is being released independently. The CD will be available at the opening on the 11 of October.
